Physical Education ProgrammeThe Physical Education Curriculum at ISM is both broad and balanced and allows our pupils to transfer their skills and understanding into many different activity areas. Pupils are given the chance to explore many different sports and physical activities under the six headings of Invasion Games, Net/Wall Games, Dance and Gymnastics, Aquatics, Health/Fitness and Striking/ Fielding games. Each activity, from Ultimate Frisbee to Basketball is taught in half term blocks to allow students to build on their existing skills and consolidate their understanding in order to progress. |
Fitness for Sport and Good HealthAll classes from year 1 – 9 have two timetabled lessons of PE per week. This is complimented by a comprehensive range of after school activities that build on the knowledge the students have obtained during lessons. Golf is also offered to all pupils during curriculum time. Inter House sporting events are very popular and occur on a termly basis. The aim of PE at ISM is to promote enjoyment and satisfaction from sport and physical activity whilst developing knowledge, skills, and fitness for sport and good health. The department has high expectations of pupils when it comes to presentation and uniform that works towards developing a culture of commitment and respect during lessons. An atmosphere exists in classes whereby pupils are not afraid to attempt new skills and activities and all tasks are approached in an enthusiastic and positive manner. |
